“I have spent my whole life studying and practicing
the Art of War and have constantly been amazed that I have
never seen my father show an ounce of fear in his eyes…ever”
(Arash Dibazar).
A Sergeant in the Elite Persian Military and
a professional swimmer who competed in local and National
Championships, Hassan Dibazar, Arash Dibazar’s father, is a
world traveler with a spirit for adventure. Considering his
open and accepting state of mind, he constantly encouraged
Arash to mingle with all cultures and to take on new tasks
with a sense of daring adventure.
Cruel and evil spirited, in the 7th
grade students had nick named Hassan Dibazar “scaredy cat”
because of the incessant bullying he was dealt by another
classmate. “I just got sick of it one day and walked up to
the kid and before he even could open his mouth to say
anything, I head butted
him in the nose and proceeded to give him the worst beating
of his life. After that I knew I would never fear anyone
again...” - Hassan Dibazar
Arash Dibazar’s mother is a direct
descendant of the Indian Maha Raja Ahmad Khan as well as the
daughter of Mahmood Reza Monshi, one of the greatest and
most prolific poets of his time. From his earliest memories
Arash recalls: “There was a sense of Magic and Mystery about
my Grandfather, as he would walk around the garden sipping
tea and reciting endless poems seeming lost in some
otherworldly trance that seemed to rivet the attention of
anyone who would be standing by” (Arash Dibazar). As a
family blessed with members who hold various talents and
gifts, Arash Dibazar was raised in and therefore lives a
cosmopolitan life.
Introduced to martial arts at the age of 2 in
his homeland of
Iran,
A. Dibazar was surrounded by the art as many of his family
members held black belts. However, his formal training
started at the age of 11 in Tae Kwon Do. By the age of 16 he
won the gold medal in the
California State
Junior Olympics and proceeded to win the gold medal at the
National Junior Olympics in the same year, beating out 52
other competitors. One short year later A. Dibazar was a
member of the number 1 martial arts demonstration team in
the world, The Next Generation Action Team, and by 18, had
toured the US and
Europe
performing martial arts for audiences as large as 37,000
people. At the age of 20, he moved to
Hollywood
and landed featured roles in the film “The Ultimate Fight”
and “Que Sera, Que Sera”. A. Dibazar has also been featured
in numerous commercials and music videos as well as TV
interviews and magazines. His talent continued to grow as A.
Dibazar was cast as the Red Ranger in Saban's TV hit The
Power Rangers. Unfortunately, A. Dibazar had many things
occurring at such a quick pace in his life and had to let go
of his recently attained role.
His dedication to the arts led him to take
the vows of a fighting monk at the age of 21. Deeply
engrossed in his practice, A. Dibazar’s understanding of Zen
and the Tao are evident in his technique and movement. Arash
Dibazar has devoted his life to perfecting his craft and
studying the great masters before him, gaining an insight
into the essence of the activity that he has transformed
into a way of life- he is a true artist.
Black Belts of various styles come to train
with Arash Dibazar in hopes of expanding their knowledge of
the art of war and to gain a deeper understanding into their
own art.
Between the ages of 4 and 11, A. Dibazar had
already lived in 6 different countries including the
following: Iran, Turkey,
Syria,
Kuwait,
England
and the United States. Considering the inevitable language
barrier, communication was difficult amongst the numerous
cultures and ethnicities he encountered; however, A. Dibazar
quickly learned to observe body language and expressions as
a means of communication. At 11 he was enrolled in Martial
Arts classes and spent the next 22 years establishing
himself as one of the leading experts in the art of Self
Defense and Martial Arts performance. Through his
accomplishments, he was given the opportunity to become the
student of the great Broadway actor and Director and The
Prince of
Fiji,
the late Manu Tupou. Tupou opened A. Dibazar’s eyes to the
world of Aesthetics in addition to the power and role of the
artist.
More recently,
however, Arash Dibazar was introduced to Sandro “Batata”
Santiago
at Ralph Gracie Academy of Jiu-Jitsu in
Mountain View, Ca.
While practicing under Roberto Gordo, Batata dedicated his
life to learning Jiu-Jitsu and maintains his dedication to
this day, as demonstrated through his teaching.
As a student of Batata, A. Dibazar feels as
if he is training under a true Samurai due to the unyielding
devotion illustrated through his practice. Batata
demonstrates true loyalty to his teachers as well as his
team, which is so “rare in modern times but vital in being a
genuine samurai” (A. Dibazar). Because of the precedent he
has established as an instructor, A. Dibazar now shares the
same values. Thus his devotion, commitment and passion allow
his art to exist as a lifestyle, by no means a hobby or
activity.
In his teaching, Batata stresses the
principals of leverage, movement and pressure along with
attaining flawless technique; focusing on these principals
and applying them to his practice, A. Dibazar was
enlightened by what he found- size does not matter. If the
proper technique is executed and the appropriate state of
mind is present, anything and anyone can be defeated,
regardless of difference in size or age. More so, small can
beat big.
Arash Dibazar continues to train daily and is
fortunate enough to teach for Batata at the Ralph Gracie
Academy as well. The physical technique and mental strength
he has acquired allow him to realize that training with
Batata is not a given, but a privilege that must be
incessantly honored and acknowledged. Along with other
teachers that have edified A. Dibazar, such as Manu Tupou,
Batata serves as one of the most paramount people in his
life.
Having the confidence
of a champion martial artist, the skills of an expert actor,
and a deep background in Zen Buddhism and body language,
Arash Dibazar encountered the book
The Game
which initiated his journey of Mystery from the Venusian
Arts and caused him to devote his energies and creativity to
mastering the art of the pickup. A personal student of the
Master Pickup Artist James Matador, A. Dibazar brings to the
game a unique vibe that is extremely impressive and
enjoyable to watch. A teacher for more than 18 years, A.
Dibazar has a keen instinct for amplifying an individual’s
inner game and quickly removing the mental barriers that
prevent men from succeeding in any field. This, coupled with
his extensive understanding of the game, makes for one of
the most potent instructors in the world of pickup today.
